they're taking on the apple iphone, and google's android. good afternoon. >> we'll begin this afternoon with a developing story. the drew peterson murder case is now in the hands of the jury. >> jurors have already asked the judge several questions, including a request for phone records and testimony transcripts. nbc's kim bodis has the story. >> reporter: a month of testimony, some 40 witnesses, the jury has a lot to sift there. this morning the defense lawyers were talking about the state of mind for drew peterson saying he's emotional prepared for whatever happened. jurors are having to weigh the competing forensic tim. did she drown in the bathtub, and the credibility of several

hearsay witnesses who told of how savio feared with her life, and that drew threatened to kill her and make it look like an accident. that was kim vatis reporting. if convictioned peterson faces up to 60 years in prison. turning to the weather, some of us were talking about the heavy rain. pretty soon the comfort will turn to the heat. doug, what about it? >> a lot of people talking about that heat. look at the temperatures. they don't look all that bad. the dew point is at 75. that is incredible as far as the moisture that is out there. something sells we have seen, the shower activity. we have do have a few showers. most of them have been through

portions of southern maryland, but new storms developing now. these are down around culpepper, and there is actually a bit of line performing, this is another storm making its way towards andrews. right now most of these are fairly weak. i expect more develop as we move through the even south and east of the washington area. look back towards the west. we have one frontal boundary. this front will bring more heat and another chance of showers and storms. i'll show you who sees the best of -- and how hot we'll get. the weather in charlotte, north carolina causing changes at the dnc. just a few hours ago, convention organizers announced they're moving president obama's speech indoors tomorrow night, because there's a threat for severe weather. the president was supposed to accept his party's nomination at the outdiet bank of america stadium. the president will now give his

speech at the time warner cable area, only people with credentials will be allowed in to see that speech. tonight former president clinton will take the stage, trying to convince voters that the president deserves four more years. steve handlesman has a preview from charlotte. sirchlts president obama arrived in charlotte. he'll give a speech thursday night, in the major convention venue, it's three times larger, but exposed. the chance of rain is 30 to 40%. >> clearly team obama felt that the risks of having this thing drenched in a thunderstorm outweighed the benefits they got in denver from a big outdoor crowd, and clint eastwood shows them what happens when a nomination acceptance speech gets undercut by circumstances. republicans charged democrats just couldn't fill the stadium.

but they gained control of their asthma, and less inflammation in their lungs. so you have to balance that out. this is just one study, but it's a study we should pay attention to, but again it's a risk/benefit equation. >> better to be shorter. >> and breathe. >> and breathe. so fall, spring cleaning? >> yes, we say you should clean up in order to clear up. cop jess is the number one symptom you'll have with the allergies, and where you can really do something about it is the dust mites. remember the microscopic bugs like to feed off the dead skin cells, and put a cover particularly over your bed. you can certainly lessen the amount of exposure at dust mites, ragweed and with all the rain, mold? >> a tremendous amount of mold. it's something if you see it you should just pitch it.

there's mold all around the pool, the garden pots, all those places. highest counts that we've seen in a while out right now. >> also a lot of concern during the summer about west nile virus. what do we need to know? >> what it looks like. it can start with something as little as a headache. you can go ahead abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, a wide variety of symptoms. sadly there have been deaths because of this. >> and we've learned there's a test that can dern whether you have it? >> there is. >> and be treated before the symptoms? >> there is. so if you're concerned, go get that looked into. it's a serious problem because of the standing water that's around. >> the kids need their shots, but you're also talking about flu shots already? >> yes. >> offered them at the drugst e

97 at frederick, 96 in manassas, and 95 towards annapolis, a very warm and humid afternoon. we talked about the trigger earlier those stars starting to die out, but more storms developing right around portions of fairfax county. the shower will bring a light to moderate shower. right on through alexandria, maybe toward the airport, right over toward portions, and ox objecti oxo oxon -- some areas to the south have picked up some pretty good rain today. it looks like there's more on the way. loudoun cows, nothing to talk about. very nice evening.

the south. this one giving some severe weather. that one will move our way, too, so we're still stuck in the soup at least a bit. 67 in the suburbs around gaithersburg, could be areas of fog, so watch out for that. we'll have a -- tomorrow afternoon, here's the heat again. 93 in fredericksburg, most of us will be on the -- mostly down to the south and east, back towards the mountains, and then front number two, so heads-up for those, but not expected too much. on friday sitting a 93. saturday rather warm and humid with a high of 87. chance of showers and storm late saturday into early sunday, but by late afternoon, we're looking at beautiful weather, and next week, just about perfect, i
